House of Delegates

Advancing oral health equity and professional excellence through unified leadership

About the House of Delegates

The House of Delegates serves as the National Dental Association's governing and legislative body, representing the collective voice of its members. It determines the Association's position on matters concerning the practice and science of dentistry and holds the authority to enact, amend, and repeal the NDA Constitution and Bylaws.

The House of Delegates also adopts and revises the NDA Code of Ethics, guides the professional conduct of members, and grants or revokes charters for constituent and component societies. Additionally, it elects honorary and associate members, creates special committees, and approves official memorials, resolutions, and positions adopted in the name of the National Dental Association.

Through its work, the House ensures that the NDA remains a strong, ethical, and forward-looking voice in advancing oral health equity and excellence in dentistry.

Governing Body

Determines NDA's position on matters concerning dentistry practice and science

Legislative Authority

Enacts, amends, and repeals the NDA Constitution and Bylaws

Ethics & Standards

Adopts and revises the NDA Code of Ethics guiding professional conduct

Member Representation

Represents the collective voice of all NDA members nationwide

How to Become a Delegate

Delegates are selected by their local NDA societies—if you're interested in serving, reach out to your society leadership. Members who are not near a local society may serve as At-Large Delegates during the convention.
