The UCSF Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences, Division of Oral Epidemiology and Dental Public Health announces one open position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Professor in Residence series. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a joint appointment in the UCSF Philip R Lee Institute for Health Policy studies and will contribute to building broader collaborations between the Department and School of Dentistry and the Institute.
Basic qualifications: Candidates must hold a dental (e.g. DDS, DMD) degree plus additional training (MBA, MPH, PhD) in business, health administration, public health or equivalent.
The Candidate must demonstrate expertise in public health policy as it applies to nutrition-related oral and systemic chronic diseases in order to develop a program of research, teaching, and public service. The department is interested in developing a better understanding of upstream commercial forces driving unhealthy behavior, finding better ways to educate oral health professionals about these forces, and to train them to be better prepared to work at a policy level to reduce nutrition-related chronic disease. Successful candidates will be able to collaborate with UCSF faculty to develop research initiatives/programs and engage in teaching and service, as well as help build a vibrant Dental Public Health residency program
